4th International Conference “Submillimeter and Millimeter Astronomy: Goals and Instruments”

The 4th International Conference “Submillimeter and Millimeter Astronomy: Goals and Instruments” will take place on 19-21 April 2027 at the Astro Space Center of the P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ASC LPI) in Moscow. This conference series has become an established tradition, held at ASC LPI every two years since 2021..

Scientific program

The conference will focus on research in millimeter and submillimeter astronomy and the scientific objectives of space-based and ground-based projects, including the Millimetron observatory. The conference will also include commemorative events marking the 95th anniversary of the birth of Academician Nikolai Kardashev, the first director of the Astro Space Center.

• Relativistic astrophysics: supermassive black holes in our Galaxy and other galaxies, relativistic jets, black hole shadows, and the space-time metric
• Cosmology and the physics of the early Universe
• The interstellar and interplanetary medium: maser sources, protostellar objects, star-forming regions, interstellar dust, astrochemistry, exoplanets, and the Solar System
• Galaxies, active galactic nuclei, quasars, the properties and evolution of dust in galaxies, and the infrared background
• Instrumentation: receivers and telescopes for millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths, ground-based observations in these bands, and space projects

Participation

The conference will be held in person, with the option of remote presentations for international participants.

The working languages of the conference are Russian and English.
