3rd International Conference on Submillimeter and Millimeter Astronomy: Objectives and Instruments

 

From 14.04 to 16.04. 2025, the Astro-Space Center of the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ASC LPI) will host the 3rd International Conference on Submillimeter and Millimeter Astronomy: Objectives and Instruments. The conference is held at the ASC LPI every two years, starting from 2021.

Scientific program

The conference topics cover a wide range of issues related to research in the field of millimeter and submillimeter astronomy and the development of this area in the Russian Federation. Traditionally, scientific tasks and the status of future space missions, including the Millimetron observatory, will be discussed.

The key topics of the conference:

  • Relativistic astrophysics: supermassive black holes in our and other galaxies, measurements of the space-time metric, plasma properties in strong gravitational fields, electromagnetic afterglow of gravitational waves
  • Cosmology: CMB spectral distortions, early objects in the Universe, evolution of the luminosity function of galaxies
  • Interstellar medium: molecular clouds and star formation, astrochemistry, origin of dust, features of dust radiation of various objects
  • Origin of life in the Universe: water in the interstellar medium, complex organic molecules in the ISM, protoplanetary disks, exoplanets, the Solar System
  • Galaxies: bright infrared galaxies, active galactic nuclei obscured by dust, properties of dust in galaxies
  • Instruments: ground-based mm/submm astronomy, space projects.

 

Participation:

The conference will be held in person with the possibility to participate remotely for foreign participants.

The working languages are Russian and English.

KThe conference proceedings will not be published. Presentations in the form of PDF files can be posted on the conference website.

Participation in the conference requires a cashless payment of the registration fee in the amount of 3,500 rubles (2,000 rubles for students and postgraduates).
